Missoni For Target

I got to target a little after 8:30, which is bright and early for me, and by that time the store was already cleared out. With all the hype target did for this release you would think they would have been stocked appropriately. From what I could see the women's line was disappointing, there was no men's clothing left and the kid's line was ADORABLE. I was blessed my target still had a bunch of shoes left, in odd sizes but plenty left.

Women's line (what was left):

This was all that was left 30 mins after opening. I was not mesmerized with anything I saw.

Shoes:

The boots went home with me in a size that fit. They also had some flats left in size 11 and 12 but I cannot get the picture to load.

Kids:

The kids line had plenty left. They were so adorable! If i had kids they would totally be sporting the cute coat and orange ensemble.

Home Good's:

There was also some bedding and vases but again I am having problem uploading the pictures. I was not thrilled with any of what was left in the home goods department. The bedding all seemed very dorm roomesque.

Needless to say I was not thrilled with what I saw, I am sure that some of the items had their charm. Target should have been more prepared and stocked for this lines release. I am a little disappointed, but still have my love affair with target :)

Fall Trends

I will admit that Fall and Winter are my least favoriteseasons. I am a sucker for the warm weather and the sun, my heart resides inSpring and Summer. A note about my absence: I had great plans for this blog, than I was involved in an incident that needed me to keep my personal light and myself in a very private light. Today was a little stressful. I got some really bad news. I think out justice system is really perverse, people do bad things to you and the prosecution system only goes after the one that did the "bader" thing. Their words not mine. That is so frustrating. I was trying not to feel victimized but that is really hard. So frustrated. I was in the worst mood after I heard all this, but someone near and dear to me put a smile on my face and heart! Again sorry for the picture vomit. My dog made a cameo and I needed to show off her fantasticness and cuteness.

What an end too 2010. I finally recovered from my face being all bruised, to get an infection in my sinuses, eye, and mucus membranes. I finally am all recovered from that and am back to having a normal face. Just in time for 2011!!! I went back and forth on completing the 30 for 30. I think I will feel better about myself and feel accomplished if I finish. I will finish on my birthday, how apt!! I LOVED this outfit, so excuse the vomit of pictures. It was really hard to narrow it down.

6 and 7 for 30!

No I have not quit the challenge. I am determined to finish, so I am picking up where I left off. The only time I will stray from my 30 is when I have holiday parties, and even then I am going to try not to. I know most of you have probably been wondering where I have been, and I am going to say very few words about it. First and foremost I am okay. I dealt with an ordeal that left my face and body bruised and broken. I do not understand the world we live in today, where people find it okay to hurt others. It is sick and sad.
I really am determined to finish this challenge, I will resume daily post tomorrow, it is finals week so hopefully I can keep up with it. I am very ready for a break and some time to destress.

This was the outfit I wore yesterday. A very tragic thing happened my Joe's jeans ripped at the crotch/butt/thigh area. I am very sad by this, and of course will patch them. However these were my only pair of skinny jeans, and I know we were not suppose to shop but I did. I needed to replace my beloved jeans and fill the skinny jeans gap it left in my 30 for 30. I am upset that I cheated but skinny jeans are a must in my wardrobe and life. I promise not to cheat again.

I really love this sweater, it was on a final sale at express, it was ridiculously cheap. I love anything off the shoulder. I also really love these shoes, I found them at a goodwill for three dollars. They are perfect. I am really upset about the loss of my Joe's jeans....here are some pictures of the damage...

That is like the worst spot ever for a rip. I went threw a omg I am so big I ripped my jeans while sitting. The reality is though they were just worn then and already a little distressed in that area. Do you think if I patch them it will even be noticeable? I love them so much I am not sure I even care LOL.

I DREADED, and I mean dreaded taking pictures today. So it was a pleasant surprise they turned out well. I really loved this outfit. On lab days I have to be able to move around and can have minimal accessories on. If they are hanging or loose they would end up disgusting. This bracelet fit perfect and really added a little sparkle to the outfit. I loved how the sleeves of my shirt peaked out from the sleeves of my blazers.

Today was a good day.... Which was a great contrast to this weekend. My heart feels a little lighter. I hope this trend continues. Now I am off to deliver cookies to spread the good cheer.

It is my first day of 30 for 30! Yay!! I had a little problem picking an outfit, I knew I wanted to wear the skirt, just had to find the right top to fit it. Working for my boss today. Her kiddo is fun but has a very on task imagination, he dreams something up and he wants to play it the whole day! Knight of Style-Memphis day 5

I skipped day four because we were having some alone time in the room and then rushed around to get ready and go to Franklin and the wine trail. The Favorite was such a good sport when we went shopping in Franklin. It was the cutest little town ever Somewhere we could see ourselves living. Day Five was in Memphis. I wore a dress bought the day before. I am going to take this time to talk about my body and how I feel about it. I feel like my body is strong, but huge, I have body dysmorphic disorder. I see this girl, especially in the outfit I wore today, and while i felt pretty in it, looking at the picture i just felt like a HOUSE. I did not follow a diet or workout on vacation which probably contributed to this feeling. I know the only way to overcome Body Dysmorphic disorder is to work to be okay with yourself. I dealt with eating disorders in both forms and have vowed never to go that route again. These picture sure did not make me like myself. I feel as if I have cellulite all over my body, and the picture are about to follow just did not help with that feeling. I want to be okay with myself, I want to feel like I am beautiful and that my insides match my outsides. To do this I am restarting my thirty days of abs, I am getting back on the right track of what i put into my body (which is not that hard) after vacation. I am hitting the reset button in hopes i never have to see another picture like this again. So without further ado, here are the awful pictures....

I HATE these pictures. I will get the dress tailored so that it fits better on the top. That was my train of thought when i both it. The details on it and price made it to hard to pass up. I normally feel confident and just did not once i saw these. Again I will not let these get me down, I will just do something about it. That being said...This guy makes me feel like a million...even on the days i do not want too.

Knight of Style- Nashville Day 4

Day 3 was a recovery day, the only time we left the room was to eat. The Favorite was recovering from his birthday festivities and being reminded of just how much fun he had. We enjoyed our relaxed day. Day four of vacation we were ready to get out and experience Tennessee again! It was so humid on this day you can actually see it in the photos. I kind of like it!!

We went to the Jack Daniels distillery, I LOVE going to places like this the with The Favorite. We held hands and learned tons the whole tour. Then we went to the mall where I got great discounts at J.Crew (pictures to come later), and the best dinner at Carabas. I had the most amazing meal ever, plus it was ten dollar off bottle of wine Wednesday, so we had a great bottle of wine. Then we went to this cute little bar called losers and set on the patio and watched it rain. I loved this vacation.

This was our first night in Nashville. We arrived around four and checked into the wonderful Hyatt Place. We had a beautiful room with a beautiful view. We got dressed and went to eat and Brewhouse 100. Anyone visiting or living in Nashville, I highly recommend this place. The food was amazing and the beet selection was even better. We sampled tons of great beet. Then we relocated to an irish pub on 12th street. Our bartender was amazing and we had a great first night.

Today was so hot here. I ran errands, made beer marinated pork loin (well techinically its still roasting), and am sitting having a beer with The Favorite. I do not think there is anything better then relaxing after a productive hot day with a good cold beer. Our beer of choice tonight is Blue Moon. We are going on vacation in 5 days and are so excited! We are going to Nashville, TN. We have a lot of great things planned so look forward to those pictures! I also have some DYI planned for when we get back, I am going to try to get one in before we go, but we will see how that goes.

30 days of abs-first 5 days

5 Days down-25 more to go.
For the first 5 days I have done 100 plain crunches (legs on the couch and raise until you feel abs contract), 50 side crunches (abs on couch and touch left elbow to right leg when you are crunching, and the repeat for the right elbow to left leg), and 50 butterflies (where you make a v with your body, you hold in the spot where you feel your abs contracting and pump your arms up and down to make your abs contract and work to keep you stabilized). I will continue to this for two more days, then I will up it to 100 side crunches and 100 butter flies, 100 crunches, and will add 50 planks. I will take demo picture of all the moves I am doing in the next couple of days. I want to emphasize that this regimen, as well as what I'm doing with my legs and arms was a routine made for my by a personal trainer and a close friend of mine. It is also mixed with 45- to an hour of cardio each day. I take one day off a week from everything.

Not bad for the first weak, I already feel stronger and can tell that my stomach is becoming a little flatter. The goal of the thirty days of abs is to build tone, definition, and strength in a short time. We will see how it goes!!! I am very excited for it. 2010 was the year for fitness so I am trying to achieve that goal.

IT IS FINALLY THE WEEKEND! I had an amazing Friday, went out with the Favorite for a night on the town. We had a great time, even though it is as hot as hades around here right now!

I hurt my leg working out this week. So for the first of the week I did not get dressed, tried my best not to walk, and did everything I had to do from my couch or bed. I did however keep up with my ab routine....so look forward to that post in just a little bit! When I was finally feeling better the Favorite took me out to eat and for a few beers! I absolutely adore this shirt. It can be worn in so many different ways. You can wear it on your arm, off your arm, you can wear the sleeve or not wear the sleeve, belt it, let it flow. I am totally in love. The colors, the cut, everything just spoke to me. I still highly recommend you check SuperStar clothing out!        Sorry for my absence! I hope you all will forgive me. I am back now and better then ever. I had some unexpected blessings happen in my life and I needed some personal time to readjust and take them all in. I think we all have been there before at one point in time.

Epic Weekend

This weekend was EPIC. I really have some amazing and beautiful friends. We went to 80's night friday, saturday we had ladies night, and then sunday was very low key with some church, good food, and ended the day having a couple drinks with some friends. Here are some glimpses into my weekend :)

Oh my goodness How sad is this that i have pictures of outfits that need to be posted. Life got in the way, followed by the most EPIC weekend ever. I have to say that I have the best friends around. I know, I know. I wore black with brown. I must confess I also wear black with navy. So I finally got around to teaching myself how to take pictures of myself. Do no let me fool you though, not all of these were taking by me. After taking my batch by myself I thought some more full body shots were needed. So I enlisted one of my friends to help. I love my friends, they are such good sports about taking pictures. I take tons of pictures every time we go out, and will retake them until i am satisfied. Like i said they are good sports :)

Okay so now that I have gotten over the fact that my long term relationship is over, and school is back underway, I am going to try to get back into the swing of things. I am not going to lie, my relationship ending took a toll on me, but now I am back to my bright cheery self. One of my goals for 2010 is to develop this blog into something I am proud of. I have many ideas and would really love it if you all went on this journey with me.
I leave tom. for New York City (weather permiting, please pray we get to go) for my birthday. One of my greatest freinds is going with me. I have know this said man for many years and he has always been there for me, I really appreciate his support and willingness to drop everything to celebrate my birthday.

When I get back I am going to start trying to get this self portrait thing down. My daily style post will become more regular. I also have a couple great ideas that will involve my fellow fashion bloggers. So please do not give up on my yet. I will be back and better then ever!

This is how I lounged around today....I think even on down days you should at least feel somewhat pulled together.

I guess today was a target day. I wanted to feel comfortable with a little hint of sparkle. Sparkle makes everyday a little brighter :)

I fully planned to do style post this weekend. My boy is the one that takes my pictures and some unexpected events happened. People did nasty things and were not awesome people and the boy has decided because of these events (which were neither of our fault) that maybe we should no longer stay together. We have been together for a long time, so this saddened me. This back and forth things kills me, but life sometimes through you a curve ball. I am doing okay, a little sad, a little hurt, but all and all I am ok. So here is what my day consisted of:

Reading, Movie watching with freinds and by myself, some good heart to hearts, hugs, and of course some comfort milk and cookies :) I really am very blessed to have friends like I do. I love them all, they make my life brighter!

This outfit definitely had to be about warmth and function. I had both my families today, which is unusual, this meant I had to dress for both toddlers and a very hormone intense eleven year old. All in all I really wanted to show case the necklaces and feel like that was achived. I started the day wearing my black leggings but that got "snow" (powdered sugar) on them from decorating ginger bread houses.

Just so you guys can get a little glimpse into my day:

A little hear, a little there.

I noticed something when I was checking out my blog reader that had accumulated over christmass vacation and noticed a similar trend. Most fashion bloggers I read post throughout the week and take a break on the weekends. I am the exact oppisite. I am still planning on doing outfit post. However I am a nanny and all the kids I currently watch are below 4, my weekly attire is normally yoga pants and a t-shirt, sometimes I throw in some old jeans. My exciting time is on the weekend's. This trend will continue throughout school as kids will be replaced with lab time. I learned my lesson the hard way, never wear nice clothes to labs containg dead things or chemicals, they stain clothes :)

Here is another batch of vacation pictures. Wisconsin was amazing. AMAZING!!! I ate so much bacon....it was good. I normally do not eat a ton of meat so my body did not however agree that this was amazing. It was such a pretty place.

Healthy eating and living

I know this is a common goal amongst everyone when a new year starts. It however holds a special place in my heart. I used to be able to run for hours and it was not big deal. Since I am not in high school anymore and track is not on the daily schedule it has fallen by the way side and I want it to come back. So it is my goal this year to run and enjoy it. To be able to run and my body to hold out and enjoy it. I do not really want lose weight, or have drastic changes, my main goal is to make my body happy on the inside instead of all icked and stressed out. Cardio, in any form, makes my day better and I want to make sure it is more consistent this year.

Another thing I would like to accomplish is not just for me. Yes I would like to cook in more and try out cooking different types of cuisine. It is also to show the boy that vegetable taste bad and meat should be in every meal is a myth. You can have a meal that includes vegetable as the main dish and it be delicious. I think maybe trying things that I make (either out of guilt because I made them or because he really wants to, either really works for me :) hehehe) will maybe dismiss that view. Just not having such a heavy dose of meat would make me a happy camper....I am a girl and that does not make my insides all excited. Cooking two meals so we are both happy seems silly though. So this is my solution :) Hope the boy approves as it was not run by him :)

Using break to *gasp* study

I know this does not seem huge. I am almost done with school....sooooo soooo close. I have decided that since life does not stop just because I have a test. It would be better if I used my hour breaks during the school day going over notes from the previous class, instead of shopping or going to starbucks. Yes that is right s-bucks and I have to partially break up for the sake of school. I figure if I do this it will be less time cramming studying right before the test.

Crafting and Sewing

I love to sew and craft things. This year I would like to complete at least two or more a month and of course blog about them. I want my life to reflect me and my abilities more.

I would also like to keep my buying more in the vintage and handmade area. I have made a lot of great purchases on Etsy and never been disappointed. Most of the pieces I have purchased have been no more then what I would spend at a store and been tailored to my body and taste. I like the feeling of funding someone’s art and lifestyle. I am sure I will still have purchases from the big stores too, but I would like to try to keep it to a minimum.

Less complaining and more going with the flow

This one is a personal one. I complain all the time, I try not to out loud but that does not keep me from doing it to myself and I HATE IT! I want this to stop. I think the negative tones create anxiety in some situations that do not need to be there. I want to stop this from happening and get it into check now. I am grateful for my life and feel blessed to have everyone I know in it. Some of the people I know and places I go are truly beautiful. There is no need to have a negative view or flow. I should not complain to others or MYSELF. I need to banish that because it kind of negates my graciousness and that is not what I want. I want my life and views to have a positive and colorful outlook and tone. In order to achieve this I am writing down one thing I am grateful for that day. It can be a person, an event that happened, anything that is relevant to that day. Then the next day whenever my inner brain starts to complain I am going to repeat my grateful thought from the day before. Re-train my brain to go with the flow and be grateful no matter what situation I am thrown into. Nobody needs a negative Nancy around, so I will not become one!

Blogging and Picture Taking

I want this to be there year of pictures. I want to have tons. I am expecting many great things out of this year and what to document the process to attain this and to capture the unexpected great things that are sure to happen along the way.

I also want to blog more often. At least three to four post a week, two or three of which being outfit post. Taking picture of myself on vacation really inspired me to pair things I normally would not and to shop the items I already had. I like the idea of being inspired by what I already own. I also think it is a good way to refine and really home in on my style.

These are my resolutions! I hope to accomplish them all and will share my journey along the way.

Sorry these pictures are not awesome....it was freezing, very windy (note my hair) and I kept sinking in the snow to above my boots. Funny story though, my amazing boy pulled over on the side of the road so we could jump out and take these pictures while there was still sunlight, in doing so we got the truck stuck in the snow. Thirty minutes after trying to dig and push it out we ended up being able to reverse out of the rut we created! We got a good laugh!

The boy and I traveled three hours to the other side of Wisconsin to meet his grandparents and aunt for lunch. We ate at this amazing resturant called Pies Are Squared. They, as you may have guessed, make square pies. We had a piece of wood turtle and it was awesometastic! The boys grandparents are not what you call normal grandparents. They are very active for their age and have amazing style ( I am kicking myself for not taking a picture of the amazing outfit his grandma had on today!!!!!!!!!) They are big on women dressing like women and keeping the "air of femininity". They insisted that we go across the street to Wild Woman Clothing and I try on clothes. They bought me two amazing bcbg dresses, two pair of shoes, a totally fantastic fasinator and a turkey feather shurg. They made me feel like a million dollars through out this process and I am very grateful and appreciative for what they did. The boys family is absolutely amazing and I am grateful to know them.

HERE IT IS! My first style file! The boy and I decided it would be best to incorperate my blog name into the name of the style file. So Knight of Style it is :) what do you think? too cheesy? not clear enough? It was really fun taking these pictures. We woke up to a snowstorm, but it actually was not that cold so that made taking pictures outside easy....so without further ado here it goes....

I really liked playing in the snow!! We never have snow like this in Oklahoma! I wish we did. I think the boy enjoyed being outside and taking the pictures too. I wanted to be comfortable with a little pizzaz and this shirt fit the bill. I really love the sleeves on it. Vacation Ramblings

Hello All. I am missing home quite terribly. I have never been away from my family before, but the boy says this is a good experience for me :) He has had to put up with a lot of whining on this trip. Until today I was running on about 15 hours of sleep for around 15 days. No sleep makes me a very grumpy girl. God bless him though, he takes it in stride and calms me down. We have been to St. Louis, MO, Coulumbus, IN, Indianpolis, IN, and Culver, IN. Then we swtiched states. We are now in Milwaukee, WI. Tomomorow we will travel to Sheboygan for three days, then to Madison and Norwalk. Our last stop will be Chicago, IL. We should arrive back in the great state of Oklahoma just in time to ring in the new year!!! I got a great dress at H&M for new years. Expect pictures as soon as I find the USB cable for my camera in all the luggage I brought with me. I will also upload some outfit post!! So excited about this. So definitely stay tuned!!!

I have decided that if I post my new years resolutions that maybe it will make me more likely to follow through on them.....just a thought :)
1) Add tone to my arms and back.
2) Start blogging more, especially outfit post.
3) Try to control my anxiety more with breathing and peep talks ( I stopped taking my meds a couple years ago because they made me very sedated, things have gotten much better since then!)
4) Start saving money for more trips....and fingers crossed a wedding sometime in the distant future.
5) Bring my GPA back up to a 3.5

These are all of them. I cannot wait for the new year! 2009 was awesome! Definitely not a year to be forgotten. 2010 should be even better!!

Christmas Tidings

Hey guys.....sorry for neglecting you! I am on a extended vacation with the guy. We have internet access here and there. I am going to try and start doing outfit posts while I am away. Or at least try to get used to taking pictures of myself.....my slr came with a handy remote so that should be useful. Small Space Solutions

I live in a 900 square foot house, with two cats and one very large dog that thinks she owns the place. I have accumulated quite a lot in my 25 years on this earth. Not to mention my mom. She has the greatest taste and gets you everything she thinks you need. Last summer she discovered estate sales so that was a very chaotic time. I love my mom and her crazy tendencies. She just likes to challenge me organizational abilities :) I am going to do a series of post on how to organize efficiently in small spaces on a even smaller budget. Today is ACCESSORIES!!!! Accessories are one of my favorite things; they can make or break any outfit. I have accumulated quite a lot over the years. This is how I have them contained :)
All my Jewlery is kept on my dresser:

This is the top of my dresser. I have a jewelry chest that was free from a garage sale. I repainted it and added crystals around the door. A tree earring stand (on top of jewelry chest), that was a $1 from the Dollar Store. A black jewelry box that was decoupaged and painted during my youth. A necklace holder that was a gift for my birthday. A fabric make-up divider from previously mentioned desist family friend. And a Glass mannequin head, 50% off at Pier One. Everything else is from around the house.

Close ups:

On top of the black jewelry box is a mesh business card holder turned on its side, it is currently holding earrings.

Behind that is a martin glass holding bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. The bracelets are stacked upon a long neck vase.

Here is a close up of the martini glass and buisness card holder.

The orange container is a wide mouth vase also used to hold bracelets. I have scarves tied around a clear vase that is holding all my skinny belts. ( Not pictured the pillow/belt system for wide belts, I will post picture of it later).

Scarves:

Scarves are hung over the bottom of a picture framed attached to the wall.

Hair Accesories:

I used the picture frame idea in the bathroom as well. I hung the picture frames and then added nails to the wall inside the frame to hold the blow dryer and straightener . I hot glued ribbon to the back of frames to hand a clip things off of. I have my sunglasses, hair clips, and headbands on these

These are just a few of the ways I have found that work for me in a tight space. Stay tuned for more ideas to come.

Fur or not to fur?

An old family friend passed away last Christmas. My parents and I loved her very much. My mom and dad took care of her and her husband in their old age. When she died my mom and I took on the task of deciding what to do with her things. Her cat came with me of course :) Along with some other items my mom dropped off. As I was sorting through some of the bags and boxes I came across these:

They are all mink, except the second one. The last one is like a shrug; it has clips and is meant to be worn around the shoulders. I am not normally a fur person. I would not buy it new, but this is not new. It was a gift of sorts. I do not want to keep all of them. I think my favorite is the extremely long one or the third to the last one. What do you guys think?

Sorry for the delay. Final papers, assignments, and test got in the way. I have a night off so I am going to do a few posts for you :) I really do not mind finals, the only thing that it makes tough is seeing G. I have not seen him in over a week, and it is not my favorite thing. On the bright side we have a HUGE vacation coming up over the break! I am really looking forward to spending some quality time with him and his family. It will be nice to have nothing to do but relax and meet new people. G is really good to me, I am very appreciative of him and proud of him for all the effort he puts forth in his daily life!

ENOUGH ALREADY!!!! That's what I had to scream at myself last night. Apparently I am what you would call a stress shopper. Finals and the workload from them have made me splurge a wee little too much. I have had enough and had to tell myself ENOUGH!!!

The blouse and the dress were $15, and the cardigan was....$48. I know......but it is really killer and very much so my style. She threw in free shipping if I purchased all three. After some tossing and turning and not being able to get any of these items out of my mind I decided to go for it. The dress reminds me of a watercolor painting. The blouse has amazing detail. The cardigan screams me and reminds me of Christmas. I am really excited about these items.

I decided to do one last late night procrastination etsy glance over before I checked out and found this baby:

This was another purchase I mulled over. It was $18. I looked at all the pictures trying to see if I could figure out how to make a replica of it but alas no solution was found. After coming up with a list of at least a dozen outfist I could wear this with I decided to go for it.

I think this would look amazing with jeans and any tee!

Lastly I came across this cute charm and new it would make a perfect necklace:

That is it! No more shopping. There is no way it is even a remote possibility for you to take your whole closet with you to WI. I think I am treating my clothes like my armor for meeting all these new and exciting people from the bf fam!!

I really like the matte look. Really like it. The nailpolish dried really quickly and has lasted all day. I will update with new pictures as I try diffrent colors. Also on it's way is KO matte nailpolish in light blue and grey. I think the matte look will be something I wear for awhile. I am anxious to try on the black matte :)

Disappointment and great deals

I was over joyed yesterday when I arrived home and saw i had a package from JCPenny waiting for me. I had ordered some stuff for my mom and myself. I was overjoyed because in that box was the much anticipated denim legging ( posted about here ). I ordered the leggings in black but alas it was not meant to be, almost none of the items were. I had ordered four tops, a white wrap cardigan, and a purple short sleeved cardigan. The leggings were far too big, as well as all the tops, and the purple cardigan. I took them back to the catalog section of JCP and they reordered what they had in stock. Three of the tops are now ordered and on their way to me :)

All the items pictures above are available at JCPenny.I saw the Bomber Jacket and feel in love. It has rave reviews about the fit. It was only left in small and large. I opted for the small. I hope it fits.

I first ordered the a.n.a. denim leggings in a black size medium. They were to large so i decided to re order the denim leggings in the dark blue handwash, size small. I saw this sweater and it was on sale. I am trying to add more vivid color to my wardrobe. I am also a suck for v-neck, over-sized sweater because you can always wear them off the shoulder too.

Next my mom and I sat down and looked at vest options from Bebe. I value my mom's opinion very much. She bring insight that I sometimes over look. Here is what we opted for.

I had spotted the fringe vest earlier this week and it was still on my mind. I tried a similar vest on at the mall, but it lacked the sparkle of this one. In the end i decided this one was a better fit.

While looking at vest we came across this feathered vest. The price was a little more than we wanted to spend, but neither one of us could get it off our minds so we ended up going back and purchasing it. I am really excited too see what it can be paired with.

Lastly, I came to a very important decision. I decided to use my macy's giftcard ($100, courteously of credit card rewards), towards a pair of black Joe's skinny jeans. I tried them on earlier in the year when I bought the dark blue version, and they have been on my want wish forever. I used the giftcard and the promo code MACYSFF, which is free shipping on over $100 and 20% off. Which means these babies cost me at total of $43 dollars.

Expect to see these appear a lot as soon as Outfit Post start :)

For those of you that have not tried out Joe's jeans I suggest you do. I have a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and dark blue bootcut. They are very form fitting and are the perfect length for the taller girl. I will admit I like the more then my sevens.

I am done shopping. I will spend no more until thrift shopping in Wisconsin and New York!!! I am very excited with all my early Christmas presents! Thank you Mom and Dad.

I am dreaming up outfits and possibilities in my head to do with all of this. How would guys pair the feather vest? I am interested to hear :)

So on Saturday my wonderful bf took me to do a little shopping and to see a movie. He is so good to me. We went and saw The Blind Side. It was an amazing movie. Definitely tops my favorite movies list. Sandra Bullock did an amazing mom and she looked uncannily like the real mom. We both really liked it. I will definitely buy it as soon as it comes out. It was one of those movies that made you smile inside and out. Before we went and saw the movie we did a little shopping. We did more window shopping then anything, but we did manage to find a few items on sale. The boy got some great jeans, a purple polo, a button down shirt, and a awesome tee that says "check out my stimulus package". It is very his style. He likes shirts with funny sayings. They fit him well. All of his finds cost him next to nothing from American Eagle.

I really like it. It is dressy and sexy in a casual way. I cannot wait to start sharing outfit post. I have so many ideas. I also hope to make a couple of necklaces before the trip, which I will share. I want to try and make a chain necklace and a studded bid necklace. Also, maybe a large crystal pendant necklace. But that may be too ambitious :)

Over the next couple days I am going to share the way I organize my accessories (jewelry, scarves, etc...) I do not have a lot of room in my house, so I had to get creative to make it work. I will be interested to hear what you think :) I wish you all a wonderful night!

Make-up Madness

I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday. Mine was full of lots of families, food, and pie. Who could ask for anything more?

So like I mentioned before I am going out of town for Christmas and will be away from my parents for the first time ever on a holiday. This event is causing my mother to rain Christmas present down on me and early, because she wants to me to have everything I need for my trip. A girl cannot complain about this. Not only is my mother an exquisite, awesome mom, but she has fairly amazing taste. So I thought I would share the goodies as they came. This weekends goodies were all in the form of make-up. I am now set for life in the eye shadow department....or at least the next year LOL :)

I am in love with the pink lipglass, its very me. The eyeshadow not pictured is a perfect shimmery pink. It was exactly what I was looking for, my mom can read minds :)

I will probably share one of the eye palettes and the dark lipglass with my mom, since she was so giving to me it would be nice to give a little back. I am not sure how big she is on glitter though.

Smashbox and hardcandy products

( blush is bella by smashbox, eye shadow quad in allure also by smashbox, and a hard candy fortune telling lipgloss in blackberry)

The lip gloss is wonderfully transparent while adding color and plumping your lips a little. I have not tried the blush yet but wanted to try a new one (again my mom is a mind reader). Right now I use smashbox o-glow and it is astounding. It is very easy to apply and turns the most natural shade of pink.

I have no idea what I will do with all the shades of eye shadow, any suggestions?

I give a big THANK YOU to my mom. She again went above and beyond. I got her a ton of clothes from JCPenny. So hopefully she will feel equally as blessed :)

I really like the flowy edgyness of the fringe vest. I could see a shorter style not only paired with skinny jeans but also a dress. It would add edge to floral or dainty number. I have an off the shoulder dress that I think a black dress would look killer with. I like the suede and jersey versions becuase they do not remind me quite as much as a biker vest.

Early Christmas

I am not going to be here for Christmas, first time ever I will not be with my family. I am going to Wisconsin to meet all the bf family. So my mom is going a little overboard on the early Christmas gifts. I am definitely a mama and daddy’s girl, if that is possible. I call my mom a bizzilion times a day. Wisconsin will definitely be a learning experience since I have never been away from my animals or my parents for this long. Enough about my anxiety though, I would like to share some of the great scores my mom got me. She has great taste, I got very lucky to have a mom like her.

Side note: I get to do a bunch of vintage and thrift shopping on the way to WI and on the way back. The bf’s mom is a genius thrift shopper, so I am definitely excited to see her approach. I will share my finds along the way ☺

Since some of the items have not come yet so I will post pictures when they do. My mom is a genius when it comes to fashion and spoiling her daughter. I am so glad I am an only child!

On Monday my mom asked me to meet her at DSW where she got me ( the straightner was a trip next door to ulta)

1) a pair of thight high boots
2) a pair of snow boots so my feet wont get cold in WI. ( I will take a better picture of these)

She had also previously ordered me a pair of black boots from VS. They just barley come over my knee. Here is a picture of both the knee high and the thigh high.

( I have not decided if I am going to keep the VS boots yet or not...I already have a pair of mid calf black boots, these do look really cute scrunched though)

I was excited about all the new shoes, which would be enough for any girl for chistmas. However my mom countinues with the madness.

She ordered me a pair of bootcute Joe's Jeans. (For thoose of you who have not tried Joe's Jeans, I suggest you do. They are incredibly comfortable and do not loose their shape in between washes.) The whole line of discontinued Hello Kitty collection from MAC. 12 pigmated eyeshadows from MAC. Some demin leggings and tops from JCPenny. Two Lauren Moshi tees ( again for anyone who has not tried Lauren Moshi on I suggest you do, she makes the worlds most comfortable t-shirt. You can find them pretty cheap on ebay.). An ivory wrap sweater. And my favorite....MATTE nailpolish. I can not wait for everything to arrive for me to show you.

I am not so sure how I feel about this whole denim legging thing...

Okay first and for most I would like to apologize for me absence. Life as a upper classmen has been way to crazy. I transferred from a public university to a private one and the workload has been a drastic change, so it took a little getting used to. I think I will survive and come out at an even kill, not where I would have liked, but it was a learning experience for next semester. I defiantly will be better prepared!

On a different note, I have been debating whether or not if I wanted to change the focus of this blog to also include fashion post. This is something I would really like to do, but am a little self conscious. I am working on getting over it and am anticipation adding daily style post soon.
I would like to share my favorite style bloggers with you; these girls are truly amazing and inspiring.

Adored Austin -Indiana is defiantly one of my top favorites. She is hilarious and has amazing style. Her style is truly inspiring and I love the way she shows you and challenge you to use the everyday in a new manner. Her use of belts and purse straps as necklace is absolutely genius. She has really amazing variety of content. She is most definitely not a one trick pony…I don’t know what the opposite of a one trick pony would be but she would be it….maybe a My Little Pony?? Indiana addresses life as something to accessorize and enjoy and I LOVE that!

Jen Loves Kev -I have to vote Jen the cutest blogger on the planet! Her style is so elegantly casual. I love the way she puts the unexpected together. She inspires me hit the vintage racks and over look any minor details that can be fixed. She looks amazing every day and does not spend a fortune on it. She is GENUIS in my opinion. Enough said  She also shares delicious recipes, a few of which I have tried. She also makes amazing brooches and jewelry. I look forward to her updating her etsy shop so I can snatch up some of the cuteness. I also really admire her dedication to fashion, her job and her life.

Blue Collar Catwalk - This was the first fashion blog I saved to my favorites. I love her style and how she recreates new ways to wear things. She gives me such great ideas to make the pieces I already own look new. Her style has a definite casual perfection going on which can be hard to achieve. She has just started sharing her husband’s ugly sweater series which I LOVE! It is awesome. Her blog post are always fun and make me smile. I really look forward to seeing what she puts together each day.

The Budget Babe - She offers cheap finds and dress by numbers. I cannot tell you how many great deal I have gotten because of her. Her dress by numbers are always inspiring a feature low cost options to the celebs more expensive choices. Sometimes I feel like she is reading my mind because I will get on and she will have a budget friendly version of a piece I have been wanting for a while.

Style Sophisticate -I found Tiffany through the America’s Most Stylish Blogger Challenge on Bluefly. She is amazing. I want to own every pair of her shoes. She could defiantly dress me every day and I would not mind at all. She never posses in the same way and puts a lot of effort into her photo sessions. I am obsessed with the way she mixed a fur vest with a bright purple dress. The length of the vest mixed with the vividness of the dress. Genius!

Orchid Grey - She is perfection. Her hair is perfection. Her style is eclectic perfection. I want to live in her closet. I love her hair. It is AMAZING! She mixes color and patterns effortlessly. I totally stole the idea to belt scarves from her, and I love it.

Lazy Day

Today has been a very lazy day. It's cloudy and raining on and off again. I am going to devotee the rest of the day to working on some projects and cleaning up the house. So picture post to come. I think I want to start to try and do outfit post too. I want to kind of see my own style. My new cell phone came....and it is different from my other blackberry so we will see how it goes. My mom ( being the wonderful woman that she is) was at an estate sell and bought me some china. Now my house is aprox. 907 square feet. My kitchen only being 70 of thoose. I already have three sets of plates but will never pass up some fine china.
So now I have all this to fit into my small kitchen

It is around two hundred pieces. My kitchen is already crammed so i will have to get crtive.

It is really hard to get good pictures of my kitchen because its not wide enough to really lean back and geta good angle. But it is pretty plain right now so we will see what I can come up with! So stay tuned. Spring cleaning, re-painting and other crafts are in store for this week :)

Curtains!!!

My windows are cold and lonely! So i decded I would make them some curtains. ( Yes my blinds are broken...my dog jumps all over them :0( )

At first I thought I would use the red and brow fabric

But then it dawned on me that green would look much better! I decided to make these roman shade style. Here are the steps
1) measure the length on the inside of your window and add five inches. Measure the width fromt he inside of the window and add and two inches. Cut a piece of your front and lining with these deminsions.
2) sew and 1/4 inch seam with wrong sides together ( only sew the bottom and the sides). Clip and turn out. Then PRESS ( THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT)
3) Get a 1/2 inch mounting board cut to fit the inside of your window.
4) Measure and mark a line five inches from each side and one in the middle with dress makers chalk.Continue this all the way down the fabric. Yor last one should end up eight inches from the
top and bottom. I messed up on this somewhere and mine was only five inches fromt he bottom.

5) Then sew plastic circular ring on each mark. Make sure all your rings get sewn each way.

6)Pre-drill three holes in your mounting board and then staple the fabric to the mounting board. 7) Attach o-shaped screws behind the predrilled holes.

8) String a sturdy string or rope through the each plastic piece. and through all three o screws. Braid the end strings together. This will be what you pull on the get blinds to go up

9) Rip a little hole in the bottom of the blinds and slip in a metal dowel rod, sew the slit back up.
10) Hang your curtains and enjoy!!

I have had some troubles lately. I got a very awful intestinal infection followed by some strep throat. It was quite an awful time. I also had to send my laptop off to get in fixed again. Still freaking sick!

I am still sick. I had to call my mom in to cover my shift at work today. I felt so bad for callin her. I have some pictures to upload but to make a long story reall short.....my laptop took at bath in water ( boooo!!!!) and they did not reinstall my camera software. I will get the problem fixed though! I am feeling better tonight! My significant other has been taking good care of me :0)

Avon: Anew Clinical Advanced Dermabrason System- It is a at home dose of conditiones and polishers. You start on level one and work your way up. Avon is really good to my sensitive skin so yay for this product! I am a exfoliater junky....anything that will make my sking appear to glow more and I am all for it!

2) Bare Escentuals: Starter Kit

I have heard nothing but good things about them! And they are supposed to benifit your skin more than regular make-up. ( I think maybe maybeline is coming out with mineral make-up to now.

3) Nars: The Multiple (in Orgasm)- Just trust me and try this product! It is amazing on everyone and everything!

1) Coach Bangles: I love them! I think they are elgant and classic!

2) Keds Hi-Wedges: I think they are an amazing! I love peep tow shoes!

3) Coach Hampton and Carriage Scraves: Need I say more. Would make any outfit look chich!

4)Victoria Secrets Dresses! I love the green flowy one, effortlessly amazing! The detaling on the black dress is tres cute!

Very Sick!

I am very ill. I think this is the worst illness I have ever had. I had to go to the student health center on friday and they finaly gave me some medicine so I would not be living in the bathroom! Margarita Bloom Review!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! I hope everyone is enjoying the cheese dip and finger foods. Go giants ( but only since the Packers did not make it)!!!!

For my birthday I got some new bath products from Margarita Bloom. I got a Goddes Pikake milk bath and some cherry lemonade body glow sugar rub. I have not tried the milk bath yet but the body glow was amazing. It smelt like I was in a cherry limeade slush from sonic, which was amazing. It only took a small scoop to take care of my whole body. I started to rub it on and immediately noted that it was not harsh on the exfoliates, the sugar was very soothing. I rub it over my whole body and washed it off. It left my skin the most amazing silky soft, sort of like soaking in baby oil. The smell lasted for a little bit after my bath which was also very enjoyable. I was very pleased with their product quality. I have very sensitive skin and this product did not irritate it at all.

I also received Aromatic bath salts with Dead sea salts and Lavender oil from my amazing mom. On the back it “ Soak for a while. Rest for some time before proceeding with normal routine.” I got in the bath with a hangover and left it feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. It was right though I defiantly felt like I needed to lay down when I got out.

Part 2: The amazing meal!!

Today is not a bad day at all. I will get my T.V. back from the repair man, which may not seem like a big deal but it was my first big ticket purchase with my own money, so I am glad they could fix it. Apparently the circuit board wires came unattached. My dad is going to pick it up and then come over and look at my kitchen wall. It has become unattached from ceiling in places about 1/4 of an inch. Hopefully it is nothing serious, but I fear my lovely tiny houses foundation may be settling. Hopefully not though. :0) One should always be optimistic.

Anyways...on to last night’s meal...I woke up looking forward to the leftovers. This is always a good sign. We made Portobello Mushroom Burgers with spicy green sauce and an onion bake with fresh mozzarella. It was amazing and very healthy. We bought only organic or natural things with all the ingredients being something we could pronounce :0) The recipe is courtesy of Rachel Ray. I do not care what anyone says about her, that woman is amazing. My very good friend gave me three R.R. cookbooks for my birthday. I was very appreciative and it was a nice surprise.

1) You start by cutting the stems of four large portabella mushrooms and putting them in a large sauté pan on medium heat with a little bit of EVO (extra virgin olive oil). I used less then what it called for because I was trying to make it as healthy as possible. You let each side cook for about 5 minutes on each side. I seasoned each side with a little sea salt and pepper. Then you turn the tops inside up an cover with balsamic vinegar. Then when the vinegar was almost all evaporated I put fresh mozzarella cheese on top. Then moved it to a cool burner and covered.

2) To make the green sauce. You put basil leaves, parsley leaves, and capers, 1 glove of garlic and lemon juice and chop it up really fine in a food processor. Scrap in to a bowl and then add some evo, sea salt, shredded parmesan cheese and pepper, mix it all together. Slather it on your burger and add onion and lettuce. It was super yummy. However if you are not a garlic lover you may not want to add the whole clove.

3) The onion bake was super good and just things I threw together that needed to be used. I chopped up one red onion and added a little batter and some water and shook it all together in a bag. Then added a little bit of EVO and some sea salt and pepper and put in a glass baking dish. Add some fresh parmesan on the top. It was delicious! I was pleasantly surprised.

The whole meal together was very nice and we shared it with friends :0) A meal is always best when shared with as many people as possible.

For an appetizer I roasted some fresh garlic. It was very delicious. I think garlic is an amazing food, but now I am very paranoid I smell like it. Thanks S.O.! :0)

Craftyness and an AMAZING, healthy dinner!

Well today was a productive day. I made a planner cover that is very cute if I do say so myself. I also made a healthy dinner that consisted of mushroom burgers and an onion melt. I have decided to only put natural or organic food in to my body and tonight was my first attempt at cooking that way. I thought it was very amazing. I was told today from S.O. (significant other) that if you to eat too much garlic you will start to smell like it. I thought it was interesting that he choose to tell me that while I was munching on a steamed garlic clove, think he was trying to tell me something? Lol :0) I think tomorrow I will make out the weekly meal plan and maybe make some curtains for my kitchen. My mom gave me this hand crafted fabric she got from India. Originally I had no idea what I would do with it. Today it occurred to me that it incorporates both wall colors in my kitchen, so I may make a valance for the small window above my kitchen sink to see how it looks before I make a curtain for the glass door.

Anyways I guess I will post some pictures of the day of fun! I will also include the recipes and instructions for what I made! Hope you enjoy!

1) A picture of the planner before and the colors I choose :0)

My parents gave me the planner because it was the perfect size for my purse!

2)I placed the planner in the middle of two pieces of the purple felt and turned the edges of the felt about half way over the inside of the front and back cover and pinned it there. I sewed about 2 inches from not quite the end of the folded edge ( I did this because I used a decorative stitch around the planner which is showed later.) This will make flaps to hold the planner in place and a nice little felt pockets to hold pieces of paper.

3)Then I used a blanket stich around all the edges of the planner. I do not go all the way to the edge when I stitch the flaps because it make it look mor deocrative, or at least to me.

4) I then cut 20 five-leafed flower petals from the pink felt. I placed them randomly on the cover and sewed them on with embroidery floss. Then I used pink embroidery floss that I used for my blanket stitch to spell out plan on the front.(NOTE: You have to be careful to only sew through the first to layers of felt and not the flaps or you will not be able to get your planner flaps in!) I also put a flower on the front inside flap. I think the finished product is adorable!

I love it! It is defiantly me! Few my darlings that took my longer than expected so I think I will post the amazing meal tomorrow! Stay Tuned!

First Post!

The idea to create a blog has been in my head for a long time. I kept going over what I would post about, if I would be again good about and what the content should be about. I finally decided that my crazy beautiful chaotic life should be documented in some way or form and the things that I create along the way should be shared. Now I am not saying that I am some creative genius. I merely hope to inspire some like my fellow craft bloggers have inspired me.

So with all that being said let me introduce myself. My name is Nik and I am junior majoring in Biology. I have a wonderful dog and cat and an amazing significant other. I am 24 years old (as of yesterday) and I am just coming to know who I am, which is a truly amazing process for me. I think life is a beautiful process and should be lived with a smile on your face. I love to sew; I think everything is a little better when it is handmade. I cook all the time. I love fashion. My dream would be to one day selling my clothes. I am in the process of remodeling my very tiny but lovely home. In this blog I hope to share the things that I craft, my outfits, my inspirations, my cooking/baking, my remodeling process and any other little happy tidbits I can fit in. I have been going back and forth about what my first project to share should be and I think it should be a new planner cover. My very loving parents gave me a purse sized organizer but it is a little generic. So come back tomorrow and see what I have come up with.
